We need your help to load the food from the coolers onto the van, and off the van for our market. Heavy lifting!

We are looking for help with breaking down cardboard, take the trash out and move the food from the market at the end of the night back into our walk in refrigerator. There is some heavy lifting involved.

We are picking up a large donation from a farm and need help unloading from the van. This is heavy lifting.

We are getting a large food delivery from our partner The Greater Boston Food Bank and need help with unloading. Heavy lifting!

We get a large food donation from Trader Joe's in Framingham and need help to pick this up from there and return to Daniel's Table and unload into the walk in refrigerator. Meet at Trader Joe's at 9:30am.

There is also some prep work for the market to be done, putting out all trays, basket etc for the food. Heavy lifting!

We are looking for someone to drive our DT van to Trader Joe's in Framingham to pick up a large food donation. There is heavy lifting! Come to Daniel's Table and get the van then drive to get the donation and drive back to DT and help unload into our cooler and to our market. Another volunteer will meet you at Trader Joe's. Heavy lifting!

We need help setting up our market with milk crates and trays. Move empty banana boxes onto the van.

When retailers or suppliers offer donations, there is often a limited time in which they can be picked up. In order to not miss out on donations occurring outside our normal business hours, we are putting together a group that will work together to collect them. We need enough drivers so that, as long as each driver can commit to being reasonably available, we can count on always having at least a few drivers for any given opportunity.

We are looking for volunteers with:

Access to (and ability to drive) a vehicle with large capacity (minivan, SUV, pickup truck, etc.)

Ability to lift and move boxes of food

Availability on nights and weekends and ability to respond quickly when an opportunity arises

We need a team to transport food donations to Project Just Because.

Social isolation wears many faces. Changes in health and circumstance can make it difficult for older adults to maintain relationships or form new ones. The JFS Warm Connectors program matches older adults living in the community with volunteers who serve as "connectors" and create opportunities to connect with neighbors, friends, family and the community. Trained volunteers are matched with older adults and once matched, they meet on a regular, mutually agreed upon schedule. Warm Connectors reduce social isolation both with regular visits as well as by helping build and grow relationships. Connections can include: attend a social or learning activity, join an exercise class, write letters to family, video call with friends or family, attend a face-based service, etc.

The Mazie Mentoring Program connects volunteer mentors with students in their sophomore year in high school who are looking for some extra support while they are in high school and making decisions about their futures. Through working with a mentor, the students are provided with the support they need to set and achieve goals, prepare to apply for college or other post-secondary training, and achieve success.

Our volunteer mentors are the heart and soul of what we do - and we constantly are searching for more!

The Blackstone Valley Emergency Shelter is open on the coldest nights of the winter to help the homeless in the Valley.  We offer three shifts: 7 PM - 11 PM, 11 PM - 3 AM and 3 AM to 7 AM.  If you take a double shift during the evening you can sleep.  We sure could use your help!
